“Greg Poppleton, 20th August at the Power Boat Club amazed, stunned and mesmerised the audience with wonderful entertaining songs from yesteryear, meaning the 20s 30s Gatsby jazz era. GREG sang with an old suspension mike and a Rudy Vallee (who remembers RV?) style megaphone. “Sweet Sue”, “Tea for Two” (Cha Cha Style), “Margie”, “The Shiek”, “It Had to be You” and many more were sung with fun, laughter, and pure enjoyment by GREG
The Band could not have been more suited to this period. They enjoyed every moment whether as a group or soloing. GREG knocked us out with a smouldering “St. James Infirmary”. Versatile GREG - singing, doing a little dance shuffle, wandering through the audience with the megaphone, encouraging us to join in singing - is the ultimate professional. Do you remember “Tip Toe Through the Tulips”, “St Louis Blues”, Berlin's “Always” and “The Charleston”? All great songs sung and performed by GREG as no one else could. GREG is on his own, the best world-wide at what he does
The final encore (always has to happen) was “My Blue Heaven”. Enthusiastic applause !! for an evening and afternoon of just pure fun and enjoyment
