Community Christmas Carols at Fairfield Museum

The Greg Poppleton 1920s-30s band were thrilled to be invited back to play for the Fairfield City Museum Christmas Concert. And I was also honoured to MC this yearly community event. Ladies and gentlemen, with music and stalls, there’s a always a real buzz in the air at this beautiful, open air museum and art gallery celebrating Fairfield’s history and community.

Greg Poppleton’s 1920s – 1930s quartet opened festivities with Grahame Conlon guitar, Al Davey trombone and Damon Poppleton alto sax and myself singing the songs of the 1920s and 1930s sprinked with Christmas songs. I sang Besame Mucho in Spanish for the first time, with the Spanish Speaking Choir joining in from the audience and applauding enthusiastically at the end.

Community performances were by

  • Shae Mowen School of Dance,
  • The Choir of Love, (Chaldean, Assyrian, Syriac)
  • Spanish Speaking Community Choir
  • Karen Children’s & Adult’s Choir
  • William Stimson Public School, Wetherill Park.

And it turned out that the sound man was Santa all along, with bags of lollies for the kids!
